Event/Assembly Information

Mad Science special events are flexible and can be customized to suit your needs, schedule, budget, or audience size.

Here's a quick look at one of our most popular events:

"What Do You Know About H2O?"

We offer the following spectacular shows:

Sounds Like Science – Make waves and make some noise in this fun and funky science show!  The Mad Scientist will create crazy cacophony with a garbage can, a swinging sound tube and a metal pipe!  Children will cheer as potatoes pop!  What are all the kids talking about?  Sounds Like Science!

Fire and IceChildren will be dazzled and entertained as they interact with our Mad Scientists!  Foggy dry ice storms, Eggbert the Egg, and even a special Mad Science “burp” potion will amaze children as they learn about chemical reactions, air pressure and the 3 states of matter.

Up, Up and Away! This exciting show deals with the incredible pressure we all live under – Air Pressure! Selected students will try their best to pull apart a Magdeburg sphere, try to tame flying toilet paper and blow out a Birthday candle that has a surprise of its own. They’ll discover that sometimes the air around us is more than meets the eye and why you should be careful where you strike a match. Volunteers will launch indoor hot air balloons, and ride the “Mad Science Hovercraft”. The audience will then be amazed as a giant vortex generator blows puffs of fog rings over them, followed by an exciting “Dinosaur Sneeze” special effect that nobody will want to miss.

Gas WorksThis amazing outdoor event explores the mysterious world of gasses. The show takes off with a wacky flying balloon, a bottle of club soda, and a surprising carbon dioxide geyser.  The highlight of this event takes place when “water bottle rockets” are launched with air pressure, followed by “fire-powered rockets”, which travel 200 feet into the sky.

Marvels of Motion In this fun-filled show, “Newton’s Laws of Motion” are examined through exciting and energetic experiments. A glass of water that changes into fruit punch and then back to water, followed by a bashful friend who just needs a little help to get moving. Jaws will drop as a cup of water defies gravity on our anti-gravity platform, our friend helps us take a leap of faith on our special bungee cord, “Flaming Didgeridoos” make an eerie sound, and we’ll see who’s feeling good with our Mad Science Mood Indicator. We’ll find out about inertia and the skills Olympic athletes need to master by our awesome spinning disk. Finally topping it all off, a lucky volunteer will be chosen to ride in “Newton’s Rocket Car.”

Be Tobacco Free – This lively show demonstrates how smoking affects the arteries, and then the whole audience is transformed into healthy lungs removing debris, (large beach balls), out of the lungs as they slowly pass them from one to another.  For our big finish a teacher volunteer will don a rain suit and goggles as we see what happens when our lungs become so full of black slimy "Yuk" that they can't contain it.  (The teacher gets slimed - but in a nice way!!)

What Do You Know About H2O? This high-energy event dives into water conservation and the 3 states of matter.  Volunteers will help the Mad Science instructor to demonstrate surface tension, and how water is actually sticky. Kids will learn how much water they use every day - and how easy it is to conserve!
